International Volunteer Minister Programme

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers Programme in the UKWe live in a society plagued with rapidly-increasing societal ruins. The general population has become widely uncaring of their fellow man and, if the pattern continues, will soon be bereft of all values.

L. Ron Hubbard, seeing this decline to amorality, found that it paralleled the decrease of religious influence in society. Having been on the research path of Scientology for over 30 years, Mr. Hubbard well knew the true spiritual nature of man. Needed was a restoration of hope and decency before war and violent crime destroyed our culture and threw mankind back into a Dark Ages where no freedom was possible.

The solution was the Scientology Volunteer Minister programme. As L. Ron Hubbard wrote with its launch in 1976, “If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can become a VOLUNTEER MINISTER and help civilise it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance...

“How does a Volunteer Minister accomplish these miracles? Basically, he uses the technology of Scientology to change conditions for the better — for himself, his family, his groups, friends, associates and for mankind.”

The hallmark of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers is their relentless dedication to providing true help to those most in need. After the 11 September World Trade Centre disaster, over 800 Scientology Volunteer Ministers from across the United States, the United Kingdom and as far away as Hungary worked side-by-side with New York rescue teams at Ground Zero, providing food, clothing, gear and relief from physical and mental anguish.

And when terror struck London on 7 July 2005, some 300 Scientology Volunteer Ministers responded immediately. At the request of police officials, Volunteer Ministers directed others to safety in the mass confusion immediately after the bombings. Organising into six Disaster Response Teams, they helped traumatised citizens and exhausted emergency workers.

People today are looking for solutions. Scientology Volunteer Ministers bring effective solutions to their communities and provide real help to millions around the world.
