Applied Scholastics International

Improving Education

Applied Scholastics International has brought literacy and real education to millions of youth and adults alike through L. Ron Hubbard’s study technology.

Applied Scholastics is a nonprofit organization that uses effective methods of education to help youth and adults develop skills for real learning, so they can achieve their own goals and realize their full potential.

This is accomplished through a network of inner-city tutoring groups, community literacy initiatives, English as a Second Language programs and unique private schools. At the foundation of all of these educational efforts is L. Ron Hubbard’s study technology.

The cornerstone of any Applied Scholastics curriculum, study technology is a collection of tools and techniques to improve one’s ability to understand and use what one reads or studies. It is not a collection of study tips or memory tricks, but rather a system of learning how to learn. The use of study technology results in understanding and the ability to apply what one learns, whether at school, in one’s work or in life.

Because study technology allows for the total comprehension of any subject by any student, the mission of Applied Scholastics is to make these vital tools available to all who wish to learn and to teach effectively.

Its programs include a wide range of services:

Community literacy groups and tutoring centers.
Private schools that deliver full educational services to students from kindergarten through high school.
Teacher training centers and seminars that show educators how to use study technology to improve their students’ abilities to learn and apply what they are taught.
English as a Second Language training programs around the world.
Study technology programs in business and industry which accelerate training and increase company productivity.

In all, 94 schools and 489 groups in 57 nations are affiliated with Applied Scholastics.

Applied Scholastics has helped millions of children and adults by implementing these programs in a vast array of settings.

And this extends to areas where education has been a luxury, such as the townships of South Africa. Since 1975, Applied Scholastics has brought the study technology to over 1.5 million teachers and students.

The success of this has led to Applied Scholastics initiatives elsewhere on the African continent, including Ghana, Somalia, Zimbabwe, The Gambia and Egypt. Literally tens of thousands of teachers have been educated in the study technology, thereby providing real education to the millions of youth of these nations. In The Gambia, study technology has been implemented in 98 percent of the country’s schools.

Due to the growing demand for its materials and services, new headquarters were established for Applied Scholastics International on a 100-acre campus in St. Louis, Missouri.

The facility is the first university of study technology, where educators from around the world are trained to return to their areas fully equipped to implement L. Ron Hubbard’s breakthrough educational tools in any setting.

Services available range from workshops, conventions and basic courses to advanced teaching seminars and studies. The keynote is that these services make widespread use of study technology possible on an international scale — providing society itself with the means to establish a new era on this Earth.

As L. Ron Hubbard described it, “The end and goal of any society, as it addresses the problem of education, is to raise the ability, the initiative and the cultural level, and with all these the survival level of that society.”
